FAMILY MAN STEVEN WHITELEY LOOKS TO CAPITALIZE OFF OF QUALIFYING SUCCESS IN OHIO.

The J&A Service Team needs round wins to remain in contention for series championship.

Norwalk, OH- E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series driver Steven Whiteley and his J&A Service team search for a round win at the weekend's 12th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals held at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.

Since premiering his new 2018 ZL1 Camaro in Topeka, the father of two has struggled when it comes time for eliminations. The J&A Service team has managed to qualify in the top half of the ladder the last three events, but cannot seem to win a round.

“We’ve done really well in qualifying with this new car,” Steven said. “Our Sunday tune up needs to be more aggressive. We are constantly learning about the way this car reacts to the track conditions which shows during qualifying, but we have yet to transition that into race day.”

This weekend is the conclusion of a three week stretch for Whiteley and his J&A Service team. With six of the twelve series races already complete, this weekend’s performance weighs heavily on his contention for the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Championship

“It is always our goal to win the championship,” Whiteley said. “I would have liked to have this new car earlier in the season, so we could have had more time to work through the growing pains. Given the circumstances, we are doing a heck of a job and I am thrilled of how well it is performing.”

Steven Whiteley will race alongside his father and 2018 Spring Nationals Pro Mod Champion Jim Whiteley in the highly competitive Pro Mod class this weekend. Qualifying of the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series begins Friday June 22 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Saturday at 1:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Round 1 of eliminations begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. All times listed are in Eastern Standard Time and are subject to change.
