COLORADO NATIVE STEVEN WHITELEY DRIVES HIS ZL1 CAMARO IN PURSUIT OF HIS FIRST 2018 PRO MOD VICTORY T

The J&A Service Team looks for second Pro Mod national event win as tour moves to Bristol, Tennessee for the Eighteenth annual Fitzpatrick U.S.A. Thunder Valley Nationals.

Bristol, TN. – E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series driver Steven Whiteley and his J&A Service team bring their new 2018 ZL1 Camaro to Bristol Dragway this weekend in pursuit of the 18th annual Fitzpatrick U.S.A. Thunder Valley Nationals title.

With only two races under their belt in the new 2018 ZL1 Camaro, the J&A Service team has experienced success during qualifying on Friday and Saturday, but have yet to transfer it to race day.

“We’ve qualified well at the last two national events,” Steven said. “And not just barely in the show either. A number two and number five qualifying position shows that our car has the ability to outrun some of the others come Sunday.”

The pro mod class continues to prove why it is the truest and most competitive form of racing.

“This class is so unpredictable,” Whiteley continues. You can qualify number one one weekend, and then the next not make the show. The field is so tight in terms of elapsed time that number one and number sixteen are normally separated by only a hundredth of a second. That is why I love it. It is challenging and when you get the win, you know you had to earn it.”

Whiteley and his ZL1 Camaro have already had seat time at Bristol Dragway. The team tested their before the Virginia national event.

“Bristol is one of my favorite tracks. It’s located in the heart of the Smokey Mountains, and the facility is top notch. When we tested there a few weeks ago, we learned a lot about how the car performed, which in turn should help us on the track this weekend.”

Steven Whiteley will race alongside his father and 2018 Spring Nationals Pro Mod Champion Jim Whiteley in the highly competitive Pro Mod class this weekend. Qualifying of the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series begins Friday June 15 at 3:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., and Saturday at 12:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Round 1 of eliminations begins at 1:15 p.m. Sunday. All times listed are in Eastern Standard Time and are subject to change.
